The confirmation came through a heartfelt Facebook post from her great-granddaughter, Dalyce Kelley, on Sunday, January 12. “About an hour ago the coroner confirmed her remains were indeed found at the property. #RIPMOMMADEE ,” Kelley wrote. “We had a great run. She impacted my life in so many ways. This loss is devastating.”

Curry, affectionately known as “Momma D,” was last seen by Kelley on Tuesday evening when she was dropped off at her home, unaware of the devastating fires that would engulf the area. Early the next morning, Kelley rushed to check on her grandmother but was stopped by a police barricade. She learned that the property had been completely destroyed.

In a desperate search, Kelley went to the Pasadena Civic Center, where displaced residents were being assisted, but Curry was not among those found there. Days later, the tragic confirmation came that Curry had perished in the fire.

Family members remembered Curry as vibrant and full of life. “She was very active,” her granddaughter, Loree Beamer-Wilkinson, told ABC7. “You would not think she was 95.”
