What followed was a chilling moan believed to have come from the cockpit.

What’s going on down there?” one of the air controllers could be heard asking. A dispatcher responded, “We have a lost aircraft,” adding, “We’re not exactly sure what happened, we’re trying to figure it out. For now, the field is going to be closed.”

The disturbing audio triggered a number of comments on the social media.

“Someone can definitely be heard letting out a ‘moan’ in the released audio of the plane that crashed in Philadelphia. Very disturbing,” someone commented.

“I heard the moan,” another added. “The moan made my stomach turn and the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. What on earth happened on that plane?!” a third wrote.

Others described it as tragic and haunting.

Unfortunately, all six people onboard lost their lives.

Shai Gold, a spokesman for Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, which operated the flight, confirmed the tragic news. He said the young passenger bravely battled an illness.

“She did her course of care. She was going home, Gold said. Further, he added: “She fought quite a lot to survive, and unfortunately, this tragedy on the way home.”

Mel Bower, a spokesperson for Shriners Children’s Hospital Philadelphia confirmed the girl involved in the plane crash was a patient of theirs. They didn’t disclose any details regarding her medical condition or the treatment she sought in the States.

“It’s extremely hard and extremely difficult, those that were involved directly in her care were very aware that she was going to be traveling home and there had actually been a sendoff for her today,” the hospital said in a statement.

An eye witness said that at the moment of the crash created a “big ball of fire” that engulfed nearby homes and vehicles in flames.

We are so very sorry for this tragic loss.
