🇺🇸 NEW WHITE HOUSE HELIPAD COMPLETED
President Donald Trump has unveiled a new granite helipad on the White House South Lawn, featuring a large presidential seal carved into the stone.
The project was designed in part to address a problem with the newer VH-92A Marine One helicopters, whose powerful downward exhaust can damage or scorch the South Lawn grass.
Trump has said Sikorsky would cover the cost of the helipad. Sikorsky is owned by Lockheed Martin, which has been reported as contributing approximately $5 million toward the project.
The new landing area is built from granite and was completed ahead of the planned September visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Trump described the project as something that would remain at the White House “long after we’re gone.”
