Roasted Cauliflower with Herbs and Parmesan Cheese

Roasted cauliflower is a versatile and delicious dish that brings out the natural sweetness and nuttiness of this cruciferous vegetable. In this recipe, we elevate the humble cauliflower by roasting it with a medley of herbs and finishing it off with a generous sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. The result is a golden-brown, flavorful masterpiece that makes a perfect side dish or even a satisfying vegetarian main course.

Ingredients:

1 large head of cauliflower, washed and cut into florets
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried rosemary
Salt and pepper, to taste
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions:

Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). This high temperature will ensure that the cauliflower gets a nice golden color and a crispy texture.

Prepare the Cauliflower:
Wash the cauliflower thoroughly and cut it into bite-sized florets. Make sure they are roughly uniform in size so that they cook evenly.

Seasoning:
In a large bowl, combine the cauliflower florets with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, dried thyme, dried rosemary, salt, and pepper. Toss the cauliflower until it’s well coated with the seasonings. The olive oil not only adds flavor but also helps in achieving that crispy exterior during roasting.

Roasting:
Spread the seasoned cauliflower evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Make sure the florets are not crowded to allow proper caramelization. Roast in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and crispy. Remember to toss the cauliflower halfway through the cooking time to ensure even roasting.

Cheese Topping:
Once the cauliflower is roasted to perfection, remove it from the oven. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the hot cauliflower, allowing the heat to melt the cheese and create a delicious crust. The cheese adds a rich, savory flavor that complements the roasted cauliflower.

Garnish:
Before serving, garnish the roasted cauliflower with freshly chopped parsley. The vibrant green color and the herbal freshness of parsley provide a beautiful contrast to the golden-brown cauliflower.

Serve Warm:
Transfer the roasted cauliflower to a serving dish and serve it immediately while it’s still warm. The combination of the crispy texture, savory herbs, and melted Parmesan cheese creates a mouthwatering experience.

Optional Variations:

For a spicy kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the seasoning mix.
Experiment with different herbs like oregano or thyme to customize the flavor profile.
Drizzle balsamic glaze over the roasted cauliflower before serving for a sweet and tangy twist.
Conclusion:
Roasted cauliflower with herbs and Parmesan cheese is a simple yet elegant dish that’s sure to impress. The crispy texture, flavorful herbs, and cheesy finish make it a standout side dish for any meal. Whether you’re serving it alongside roasted chicken or as a vegetarian main course, this recipe showcases cauliflower in all its delicious glory. Enjoy the irresistible combination of textures and flavors in every bite!
