I wasn’t supposed to be on that flight. A last-minute change, an overbooked plane, and somehow, I ended up in seat 14B instead of my original spot. I was already stressed—flying alone for the first time and knowing I’d have to keep my brain from jumbling up words if I needed to read anything. Dyslexia made things tricky like that.
Then the flight attendant spoke up.
“We have a passenger here who is both deaf and blind. He communicates through tactile signing. If anyone knows sign language, we’d love your help.”
