Trump and Christ: Should Christians Fear Trump?
Donald Trump’s Christian supporters often regard him as a divinely chosen figure. Yet, it’s difficult to ignore how many of the Ten Commandments he appears to have violated over the years.
A Messiah for Evangelicals?
Many Evangelicals in the United States view Trump as a type of modern-day savior. This perspective persists despite his personal life being anything but saintly.
Trump as King David?
His supporters frequently compare him to King David, a flawed biblical figure who was nevertheless used by God to fulfill divine purposes. They argue that Trump’s sins are overshadowed by his role in advancing Christian causes. Trump himself capitalizes on this unwavering loyalty, famously claiming he could shoot someone in broad daylight without losing supporters. He has consistently positioned himself as a champion of Christian values.
The Chosen One?
Some of Trump’s Christian supporters have gone so far as to assert that God intervened to save him from an assassination attempt, interpreting his survival as proof of his divine selection.
A Different Symbolism?
