Ready to indulge?

1. Fried Apple Pies

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of peeled, cored, and diced apples (Granny Smith or Golden Delicious work best)
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Store-bought or homemade pie dough
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the apples, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook over medium heat until the apples are tender, about 10 minutes.
  2. Stir in the butter and remove from heat. Let the mixture cool slightly.
  3. Roll out the pie dough on a lightly floured surface. Using a round cutter (about 4-5 inches in diameter), cut out circles from the dough.
  4. Place a spoonful of the apple filling on one half of each circle.
  5. Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Use a fork to crimp and seal the edges.
  6. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, fry the pies in batches, turning once, until golden brown. This should take about 3-4 minutes per side.
  7. Remove the pies with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

2. Fried Peach Pies

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of peeled and diced fresh peaches
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Store-bought or homemade pie dough
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the peaches, sugar, and cinnamon. Cook over medium heat until the peaches are tender, about 10 minutes.
  2. Stir in the butter and remove from heat. Let the mixture cool slightly.
  3. Follow the same procedure as the apple pies for rolling out dough, filling, sealing, and frying.
